Salt & Sol ~ Prince Edward Island is a cozy yet vibrant dining spot located in the heart of Charlottetown at 2 Pownal St, PE. This restaurant offers a delightful mix of local flavors and contemporary dishes, making it a go-to place for both locals and tourists. Whether you're stopping by for a casual lunch or a special dinner, the ambiance and variety on the menu will surely impress.

One of the things that immediately stands out about Salt & Sol is its emphasis on using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. As a diner, you can taste the difference that quality ingredients make in every bite. From the seafood caught just off the island to the locally grown vegetables, every dish tells the story of Prince Edward Island’s rich agricultural heritage. The menu, which changes seasonally, features a wide range of options, from succulent lobster rolls to mouth-watering PEI mussels. These dishes are always made with the freshest catch, ensuring that the flavors are as vibrant as the island itself.

During a recent visit, I tried their signature fish tacos, which were absolutely delicious. The fish was perfectly seasoned, and the salsa added a refreshing zest that complemented the smoky flavors of the grilled fish. Paired with a crisp local craft beer, it was the perfect way to enjoy an afternoon in Charlottetown. The flavors were bold, but they never overwhelmed the palate-everything had the right balance.

One thing that sets Salt & Sol apart from other restaurants in the area is its commitment to sustainability. They take great care in ensuring that their seafood is sourced responsibly, which speaks volumes about the restaurant’s ethics. The owners are passionate about the environment and the community, which makes dining there not just about good food, but about supporting a local business that cares.

The restaurant itself has a warm, inviting atmosphere. The modern decor combines natural elements like wood and stone with subtle nautical touches, creating a comfortable yet elegant dining space. Whether you’re sitting at the bar or enjoying a table by the window, you'll feel right at home. The service is friendly, and the staff is knowledgeable about the menu, always ready to recommend something new or tell you more about the locally sourced ingredients they use.

Salt & Sol has also become known for its welcoming vibe, attracting a wide range of patrons. Whether you're a couple on a romantic night out or a group of friends enjoying a weekend get-together, the restaurant is perfect for any occasion. They also cater to dietary preferences, offering vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options without compromising on flavor or creativity.

It’s no surprise that the restaurant has garnered plenty of praise in reviews. Many guests mention the consistency of both the food and service, making it a reliable choice for anyone visiting Charlottetown. Online reviews often highlight the warm atmosphere, friendly staff, and unique dishes. If you’re in the area, checking out Salt & Sol should definitely be on your list, especially if you want to experience what makes Prince Edward Island cuisine so special.

One popular feature of the restaurant is its outdoor seating area. On a sunny day, there’s nothing better than enjoying a meal while soaking in the view of the bustling street outside. The location is perfect for people-watching and getting a real sense of the charm that Charlottetown has to offer. Many diners opt to sit outside during the warmer months, savoring everything from fresh seafood to sweet desserts, all while enjoying the lively, laid-back vibe of the city.

The menu at Salt & Sol isn't just about entrees, though. The dessert options are just as impressive. From the indulgent chocolate torte to the delicate fruit sorbet, there’s a sweet treat for everyone to enjoy. For those who prefer something lighter, the house-made sorbets are the perfect refreshing end to the meal, especially during the hot summer months.

If you're looking to explore the local flavors of Prince Edward Island, Salt & Sol is the perfect destination. Whether you're grabbing a quick bite or spending the evening savoring each course, it’s a dining experience you won’t soon forget. • We stopped into Salt and Sol for lunch. We wanted seafood and a water view. They have both! You can eat inside or out on their deck, with a beautiful view of Charlottetown yacht club. The gluten free fish and chips was absolutely the best I have ever had the pleasure of eating! Sweet potato fries were my choice for a small extra fee. The portions were generous and the haddock was cooked perfectly. Crispy and well seasoned. My daughter enjoyed her fish chowder, with homemade garlic bread. Their prosecco sangria was refreshing and a nice change. The service was great too. What a Gem!!

  • First day in Charlottetown, PEI and we chose Salt & Sol for dinner — what a perfect choice! The fresh fish & homeland chips were spot on, with portions even generous enough for the kids . My wife had the vegan Sole Bowl , and she loved it! The view is absolutely stunning — overlooking the pier and boats , right above the yacht club, giving you that little VIP feel . On top of that, the value is excellent. Highly recommend if you want fresh food, a great view, and a relaxed island vibe .

  • We are from the states as tourists. Salt and Sol was an excellent water-front location for lunch. Atmosphere is fun and our server, Will, was friendly, cheerful, and attentive. I could tell that they have a good team here! And the food was delicious!! Be sure to try the Salmon. The sauce was wonderful. My wife tried the Halibut fish and chips and they use a special coating so they come out crispy but NOT oily. We recommend!

  • Great atmosphere. We sat outside on deck enjoying the view. Service was wonderful. Had the loster roll which was good. The summer salad was amazing.

  • Best oysters we had in PEI. Was a little noisy since the yachts were coming back to dock and the horns were going off, but the food quality more than sufficed the environment. Clam chowder was also amazing.

  • We had a nice view of the marina, but on a small bar-like table and stools. I asked the servers if we could get a table when available but they did not. The food was just ok, the burger was less than great for sure. That being said, it’s affordable, it’s very popular, and it was full. It’s real nice to see the boats go while enjoying a glass of wine.

  • A wonderful dinner and experience at Salt &Sol. A breezy summer evening with rain threatening, we were fortunate to be looked after by Chantal. Everything we had was excellent and in our 7-day trip in PEI we had the best mussels! My daughter gives the lobster roll an 11/10 and we feel the same about the whole evening. To quote Chantal: “I love it here, it’s not really like work. More like family.” Honestly, you can feel it.

  • Amazing atmosphere and food! The staff is super friendly and the view on the deck is perfect! We had the Chowder and the Sol Burger with a Seed Salad. It was the best burger I have ever had! Only complaint is the Chowder did not come with roll or tea biscuit. To drink I had the Strawberry Garden Mocktail and it was deliciously refreshing.
